ENRON, the Masques' 2011 spring show, is based on the 2001 scandal that befell the Enron Corporation, a Houston, Texas-based energy company, as well as its accounting firm, Arthur Andersen. Enron executives Ken Lay, Jeff Skilling and Andy Fastow cooked the books, did some unbelievably unscrupulous creative accounting and in essence stole the money and nest eggs of their own employees while on their way to bankrupting their own company in a story of greed-run-rampant.
ENRON, written by English playwright Lucy Prebble, opened to huge acclaim in London in 2009. The Masques are one of the first -if not, the first- high schools to have ever produced the play.
