Rear Window had never before been performed on stage; it had been
written for film. It is a story about a man who, trapped in his
apartment by a broken leg, watches his neighbors through his window and
believes he has witnessed a murder. How could such activity be
translated from the screen?
In The Masques' Rear Window, virtually all cast members were
on stage at all times, the activities within the many apartments going
on silently on a two-story-high structure. The main action took place
at the front edge of the stage. This was a full-stage production with a large cast.
